Haxhinasto hails Order of Malta’s assistance

TIRANA, May 17 – Albanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto made a visit in Rome to take part at the international meeting “Global Governance and Security Council Reform.” He also visited the Order of Malta, where he met with the Prince and Grand Master Fra’ Mathew Festinger.
Haxhinasto commended the contribution of the Order of Malta in Albania in the medical, social and humanitarian area and extended the gratitude for the assistance offered after the floods in northern Albania.
They stressed the need of strengthening cooperation in the social assistance, especially for the most sensitive strata of the society, as the third age, the Roma, the poor and others. They agreed to complete the legal framework for such cooperation. they also shared the view on the need of the evaluation of all the current projects, aimed at their prioritization, boost of efficiency and the future programming in the fields with larger needs and where the Order has a more thorough expertise.
During his stay in Rome, Haxhinasto also visited the Community of Sant Egidio, where he met with Monsignor Vincenzo Paglia to discuss on the latest developments in Albania and in the region.
