TIRANA, April 11 – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Edmond Haxhinasto met this week with Egyptian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Issues Amin Ahmed Fathallah to talk on bilateral issues and more.
Haxhinasto also asked Fathallah that Egypt reconsider the recognition of Kosovo as an independent country, especially after the International Court of Justice and the approved resolution on Kosovo in the UN Assembly.
Fathallah said that Cairo was taking some practical steps regarding the recognition of Kosovo, which will lead to a final decision.
During the meeting they focused on strengthening the economic and investment growth and agreed that in the second half of 2011 a joint bilateral committee hold a meeting.
Last week Haxhinasto also met with Jordanian Prince Raad Al-Hussein of the Hashemite, who was on a visiting to Albania to take part at a working group meeting for the universalization of Otawa’s Convention to stop anti-personnel mines.

Albania has cleared its territory of such mines, thus fulfilling all obligations under the Otawa’s Convention.
Haxhinasto also urged the Jordanian government, which has been one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo’s independence, to urge member countries in the next Islamic Conference on a draft resolution on “The Situation in Kosovo”, presented by the Albanian delegation, which will be adopted in next Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of OIC, at the end of June 2011.
