TIRANA, Nov.29- A history conference to commemorate the 95th anniversary of Albanian independence includes addresses by well-known Albanian historiography experts. These historians presented their studies and research on the elements that contributed to the new and independent state after the Ottoman Empire rule expired in the country. The organizers included the institute of history and the Faculty of History at Tirana University, under the patronage of Prime Minister Berisha. Professor Kristaq Prifti spoke on the subject, “The declaration of independence and the issue of a united Albanian state”. He was followed by Kosova historian, Professor Jusuf Bajraktari, who spoke on the topic, “28 November, an inspiration for an independent and sovereign Kosova”. Head of the State Archives, professor Nevila Nika gave a speech on the “Preparation and organizing of the rebellion of 1912 in the documents of the central archive.” This lecture was particularly interesting because of its use of primary archive materials from exclusively local origins. Another interesting speech was given by Fejzullah Shabani, who described the Albanians of Macedonia in 1912. Also participating in the conference were clergy in the independence movement which was examined by Ilira ȡushi. Ledia Dushku spoke on “Ismail Qemali, Greece and the Albanian independence movement of 1912.” Professor Marenglen Verli treated the subject “Imposed borders of the Albanian state,” a consensus with grave outcomes for Albania treating the fragmentation of Albanian territories and populations. Economic, social and network effects of this development were analyzed with an eye to historical detail and an analytical framework which is valid for present considerations of regional cooperation. The two-day event featured a pavilion with an exhibition of historical documents and with promotion of books.
