Import of excise goods up 32% in H1

TIRANA, August 1 – Import of excise goods in June registered a significant 32 percent increase in June 2011 compared to the previous month. INSTAT data show imports of these goods also known as luxury products reached 7.5 billion lek last June. Most of these products, almost 76 percent of them are made up of oil products. The sharp increase at the beginning of summer is an annual trend related to increased consumption because of arrival of hundreds of thousands of migrants and foreign tourists to spend their holidays in Albania.
