Over a three-month time period, in Tirana and its outskirts, only in the sector of department stores are inaugurated investments of about 160 million USD, ABA Centre, Praktiker, Citypark shopping mall, Megatek and several other companies

TIRANA, March 14ؔhe new ABA Business Center was inaugurated on Sunday in cooperation with Italian COIN department store, a well-known brand in apparel, homewear, kidswear, accessories, lingerie, beauty and cosmetics. Attending the ceremony were the Albanin PM Sali Berisha and Italy’s ambassador to Albania Saba D’Elia.
In his greeting speech delivered on this occasion, PM Berisha considered the new Business Center, one of the top 10 sale companies in Europe being based in Albania, i.e. COIN department store a great event for the life of the capital and the Albanian market as a whole.
“Inauguration of the Business Centre in Tirana and COIN Company marks a major investment of 65 million euros as it also provides a considerable employment opportunity of 400 employees in all its sectors,” said the prime minister.
PM Berisha said that inauguration of this Center, as an Albanian-Italian private sector cooperation, is a rather welcome development in complete syntony with the brilliant political and all-round relations that exist between the two countries as well as evidence of vitality, enthusiasm of economy and the free entrepreneurship in Albania.
Italian ambassador D’Elia also positively assessed the opening of this centre and COIN group presence in Albania as another moment of the further strengthening of bilateral relations especially in the economic field.
“COIN group, – said ambassador D’Elia- has worked together with the Albanian friends for several months to realize this major centre. COIN is important not just in Italy, but even in Europe in the field of apparel and household goods. The COIN group choice to open its biggest center overseas in Albania is an example of brilliant cooperation between the two countries.”
Italian ambassador said that inauguration of this center coincides with the new initiative of Italy embassy under topic “Italy and Albania 2010, two peoples, one sea, one friendship”, which goes underway on Sunday, March 14.
“In the country’s capital it’s being inaugurated the most major business centre of the country, ABA, one of the top 10 sale companies in Europe, i.e. COIN department store. This consists a great event for the life of the capital and the country, the Albanian market as a whole. Therefore, on this occasion, I would like to congratulate all the team, ABA and COIN executives, the employees of this centre and wish them success and good luck in their rather important activity. Inauguration of the Business Centre in Tirana and COIN Company marks a major investment of 65 million euros as it also offers a considerable employment opportunity of 400 employees in all its sectors. But, as ambassador D’Elia put it, the inauguration of this centre, as an Albanian-Italian private sector cooperation, is a rather welcome development in complete syntony with the brilliant political and all-round relations that exist between the two countries, two nations and our governments; it’s the first harbinger of the Italian Spring in Albania, which as the ambassador announced, goes underway next week with one of the most amazing acrobatic performances that the capital has ever enjoyed.
Inauguration of this business centre is also evidence of vitality, Albanian economy enthusiasm, and free entrepreneurship in Albania. Those who invested in this Centre, COIN group have not been wrong. But, they made the right choice because they invested in the capital of a country which last year kept the economic growth flag flying as compared to other countries. This current year Albania will also head economic growth. Over a three-month time period, in Tirana and its outskirts, only in the sector of department stores are inaugurated investments of about 160 million USD, ABA Centre, Praktiker, Citypark shopping mall, Megatek and several other companies. A great number of employees work in these services, but on the other hand, this sector is the litmus of health, enthusiasm, market optimization; it’s the vanguard. Nothing can testify more accurately and in a more crystal clear way the economy health than the dynamics of sales and development of the department store sector.
It is not that the Albanian economy felt no repercussions of the global economic crisis, but it withstood them because owing to reforms our economy got transformed into the economy of the lowest taxes in Europe; an economy with the lightest public administration burden, one of a downsized administration; it withstood the crisis because government policies are oriented toward the market and the major investments; all in function of the market. Owing to these reasons over a three month period of time in Tirana European and world companies have come to Tirana or are preparing to open their activity here. Albanian is part of the global economy, but this current year it is on a good start,” said in his greeting speech, PM Berisha.
