Italian police chief strengthen ties with Albania

TIRANA, Jan 13 – Italian police chief Antonio Manganelli and heads of police in Albania, Kosova, Montenegro and Macedonia met Tuesday at the ceremony of the 96th anniversary of the Albanian police.
During the meetings with Albanian officials, Manganelli stressed the need to create a law enforcement network in the Balkans and highlighted the special attention in combating trafficking in human beings.
Manganelli also said that the level of cooperation between the police in the two countries could be considered a model for others to strive for.
Manganelli also met with Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha to discuss the strong spirit of cooperation between the two countries to fight the organized crime.
Manganelli said that the office of the Italian police in Albania will serve as a connecting point for all activities of the European police.
