Italy busts Albanian crime ring

PERUGIA, Sep. 28 – A drugs smuggling ring from Belgium and Albania has been crushed by Italian police, following two years of investigation Italian police, authorities said. They said they had arrested 22 Albanians. Nine of them abroad.
They also confiscated 27 kilos of cocaine and 48 pounds of marijuana, worth a total 20.6 million euros.
The alleged traffickers used a number of cars.
During the two years of investigation they had compiled a lot of testimony and proof.
The organization was well entrenched in Perugia and throughout the region. Among the 22 arrested, 19 were recruited couriers to transport the drugs from Belgium and Albania.
