ROME, Jan. 22 – Italy has organized a trilateral meeting of its foreign minister with his Albanian and Serb counterparts.
The meeting of Italy’s Paolo Gentiloni with Albania’s Ditmir Bushati and Serbia’s Ivica Dacic was first proposed by Gentiloni’s predecessor Federica Mogherini, who now has taken over the European Union’s foreign policy post. She started the idea that during her first tour to the Balkans last year in an effort to strengthen stability in the once-considered power-keg region.
Joint efforts of integration into the EU and also increased cooperation in the region remain top issues to be discussed there.
Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano has valued recently the effectiveness “of the exchange of information between countries on terrorism,” adding that was the reason he visited recently Albania, Turkey and Spain.
