TIRANA, Nov.9 – Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta, head of the junior ruling coalition party, praised the decision of European Commission to recommend opening accession negotiations with Albania saying “this is a great news for every Albanian.”
In a press statement following a meeting with the Head of EU Delegation to Albania Romana Vlahutin, Speaker Meta underlined the importance of the thorough implementation of the justice reform.
“This day makes us optimistic, but also brings more responsibilities and obligations for us to meet the criteria for our country’s European future,” Meta said. “We must show tangible and rapid results in the implementation of judiciary reform which represents one of the key challenges in Albania’s EU integration. This is one of the most important paths to strengthening the rule of law in Albania.”
