King Abdullah of Jordan visits Tirana

TIRANA, May 12 – King Abdullah of Jordan, in the Albanian capital for an official visit, has met with President Bujar Nishani to discuss bilateral ties with particular focus on the two countries’ efforts to promote religious tolerance and fight international terrorism, the two heads of state said at a joint press conference.

“This visit will clearly contribute in strengthening the friendship between our two peoples and will create appropriate conditions to increase cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” President Nishani said.

King Abdullah said relations between Jordan and Albania are very good, adding he valued Albania’s religious harmony, a value that is is also important to Jordan.

President Nishani publicly thanked Jordan for its recognition of Kosovo as an independent state in 2009.

King Abdullah is expected to meet Prime Minister Edi Rama later in the day. He will leave for an official visit to Germany tomorrow.
