TIRANA, Oct. 5 – The Albanian Konfindustria hailed Thursday the production of the excise stamps with the European Union standards, the association said. That was achieved following contacts between the business group and the government authorities. That would be a big step in the fight against fiscal evasion, which they said could be some 60 million euro per year only for drinks. It said that added with that of tobacco and cigarettes it means a considerable increase in the contribution for the public budget. The new excise stamps have three elements of security. Until now the excise stamps have not had such elements, the association said, and they have been one of the causes of fiscal evasion. Informal economy in the country is above 50 percent, said the association of businessmen and that affects the state budget like education, health, pensions, water and power supply, environment pollution and so on. Konfindustria also said the new stamps would help to increase the food security for consumers, and a good step ahead toward the integration efforts into the European Union.
