TIRANA, March 22 – Kosovo President Behgjet Pacolli made his first visit in the post of president starting with Tirana.
He met with Albanian President Bamir Topi, Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli and also opposition leader Edi Rama and other top personalities in the neighboring country, where he was also honored with a honoris causa title from a private university.
Pacolli also took part at the meeting of the Albania-Kosovo Business Forum and made a series of other activities.
Speaking at the Albanian parliament he said that “Our future is the national unity and it will be realized thanks to the past to see the bright future.”
In his address he said that between two Albanian territories should not exist barriers. “I started my visits in my Albania, mother Albania. Word has not been my strong point, dear Albanian brothers, but I come in Tirana for the first visit as President of Kosovo, therefore I would like not to misunderstand my voice fluctuations, ” he said.
Pacolli said further that the barriers between two countries must be removed in order to achieve a unification of the laws, borders, culture, or as he called, a national unity according to the European recommendations.
Topi stated that Kosovo and Albania together will be part of the European Union in the near future and that together with his Kosovo counterpart expressed willingness to establish a common work agenda.
Topi stressed that both countries together will make it possible to create a new reputation and so Kosovo will be recognized by more states.
Pacolli stressed that his visit comes at a moment when Kosovo emerged from a difficult institutional vacuum.
