TIRANA, April 19 – The chairman of the new political party Libra and former Socialist Party MP, Ben Blushi, opposes plans of the two governing allies to extend the deadline for the registration of political coalitions at the Central Election Commission for the parliamentary elections scheduled for June 18.
Blushi said he believes that the Central Election Commission will approve the request put forward by the Socialist Party and Socialist Movement for Integration in a move revealing its political bias and hampering electoral standards few months before the elections.
“Postponing the deadline for the registration of coalitions is similar to postponing the elections,” Bushi said, arguing that the request is illegal.
“under the conditions when the country risks being without a president, elections, or justice system, Libra believe this request to be a coup d’etat organized by political parties in power and in opposition that are sabotaging institutions driven by corruption and fear from justice,” Blushi said.
