TIRANA, Nov 10 – Fuel suppliers set a new fuel price, reducing it by five leks, though still considered too high for poor Albanians.
The fall of fuel prices in Albania is not following that throughout the world, where oil prices have fallen to $60 per barrel, along with the impact of the rising US dollar.
Currently, diesel fuel is begin sold at 140 lek per liter while petrol costs 135 lek per liter.
Common Albanians still complain of the high price and urge the government to take steps to stop possible abuses by oil wholesale businesses.
But at this moment, Energy Minister Genc Ruli has explained high prices, saying that fuel price in Albania cannot be lower due to the high cost of its being transported and loaded/unloaded at ports where there are no large fuel deposit tanks.
