Macedonian police arrest two Albanians suspected of smuggling 100 kilograms of marijuana

SKOPJE, Macedonia, Dec. 29 – Macedonian police found some 100 kilograms of marijuana and arrested two Albanian citizens (from Albania) suspected of smuggling the drug into the country by boat, according to Macedonian authorities. The marijuana, with an estimated market value of 500,000 Euro was seized late Thursday when police intercepted the smugglers, who had just arrived from neighboring Albania, local authorities said. They were unloading the illicit cargo from a small boat near the tourist settlement of Pretor on Lake Prespa. The lake lies on the border of Macedonia, Greece and Albania. Police said the drugs were to be distributed on the Macedonian black market.
