March held in support of missing kids

TIRANA, May 23 – Albanian civil society has held a march in support of missing children.
The march was held in capital Tirana in front of the Interior Ministry and Prosecutor General’s office calling on them to pay greater attention to missing children.
The protest was held only days ahead of the International Day for Missing Children, May 25, a day when people and society worldwide recall the lost children, remember those children who have been victims of trafficking, exploitation and abuse and support efforts family to find their children. That is held to encourage everyone to think about lost children and to spread messages of hope.
The march in Tirana was joined by family members and relatives of missing children who called on relevant instances for more attention to cases of loss and disappearance of children in Albania.
Albania is a source country for children trafficked for sexual exploitation and forced labor, including begging. Albanian children are trafficked to neighboring countries like Greece, Macedonia, Kosovo, but also to Italy, Spain, France, Britain and other Western European countries, as well as within Albania.
