Military attaches check demined areas in northeast

HAS, Oct. 28 – A group of military attaches of the western embassies who have funded the demining process for northeastern Albania visited the area to see the results of the work that has started since after the Kosova war in 1999. Since June 12, 1999 when the Kosova war was over, mines in the area have cause 32 victims and injured 236 others. They have been residents in 36 villages along the border with Kosova at the Kukes district. Albania has a 121 kilometer long border line with Kosova which was mined from the Serb army, or an area of 15 million square meters. There are still three million square meters to be demined. From such well-known companies of that sphere like “Ronko”, “Help”, “DCA – ACT”.
