TIRANA, Feb. 23 – The Energy Ministry reported that it has revoked 20 mining licenses in an effort to improve operations in the mining sector and increase operation standards.

Such decisions have been made frequently in the last months finding many companies either not performing at all their concession, or not respecting the normal standards, thus resulting often in the death of several miners in the northern part of the country.

The government has already passed some amendments on the mining law to turn it into a more efficient sector.

The ministry has said there are many superimposed permits mainly in Bulqiza, Theken, Baterr and Krasta.
