Miners protest for higher salaries, pension

TIRANA, Nov 9 – Miners held a protest last week asking for higher salaries and also pension and retirement age.
Miners from 12 districts in the country first went in front of the public radio and television building to follow the protest in front of the finance ministry.
They asked the government to talk with them.
A day before their protest another miner died while working in Bulqiza mine.
They retire at 65 years old, that they want lower due to the difficulty of their work, and get a 6,000 lek monthly pension, which they want it to be higher.
They say their average life goes to 58 years and two months due to the illnesses they get while working.
