TIRANA, May 3 – Interior Minister Bujar Nishani met with top police
road officials to request that they pay better attention to the management
of the roads following a large number of traffic fatalities in 2007.
The meeting was held on the eve of the tourist season when thousands
of cars driven by Albanian immigrants will travel the still poor Albanian
road network and, possibly, sparking an increase in road accidents.
