TIRANA, May 5 – Following
the recent political flare up
by the Christian Democratic
party, part of the governing coalition,
one of its top leaders has
sued its leader, Nard Ndoka,
also health minister, for abuse
of post and has said he will ask
for lifting his parliamentary immunity.
The party has been involved
in an internal fight among different
groups within its leadership
since parliament passed
constitutional amendments last
month. Some of its lawmakers
opposed the amendments,
which were strongly supported
by the country’s top leaders.
Ndoka also said he would
sue one of his close collaborators,
deputy Foreign Minister
Anton Gurakuqi, for using party
symbols.
It is expected that both
groups’ fighting will ultimately
divide the party. (Tirana Times Staff)
