TIRANA, Aug. 20 – Production of vegetables and fruits from Albanian glass-houses fulfilled 63 percent of the country’s needs, according to the Ministry of Agriculture.

That was a 2.1 percent increase compared to a year ago.

There is no exact figure on how much surface they cover in the whole country, but authorities said there were 130 hectares of glass-houses more than a year ago.

Additionally, the ministry announced plans to provide $5 million for the development of vineyards, fruit trees and olive trees.

The money will be invested in farms which have at least three acres set aside for these crops.
