KORCA, July.16- Supported by a grant from the World Bank, the “Mjaft” foundation organized Albania’s first-ever job fair in Korca. The event aimed at giving an opportunity to local businesses to recruit new employees. According to Eniana Ko誡j from Mjaft, job fairs held in other countries have proven to reduce informality in hiring. Participants included 15 companies from Korca and 70 young people seeking work. The candidates assessed as suitable by the companies will pass to a second stage where they will be interviewed. Kocaj explained that despite the fact the most of the job-seekers lacked job experience, since they had only recently graduated from school, they were welcomed by businesses who showed considerable interest in finding new employees. The project was supported by the municipality of Shkodra, the Chamber of Commence and the branch of GTZ in the city. The new market conditions have made it necessary for human resources to be marketed through such activities. “Mjaft” has ambitions to have more job fairs with the aim of supporting the potential of the labor market in Albania.
