TIRANA, Oct. 6 – President Alfred Moisiu convened Friday the National Council of Security with all top officials running the main institutions, but the government head, Prime Minister Sali Berisha who was not present. The meeting was convened to discuss the country.s commitment to reach standards and then get integrated as a full member into the NATO. The Riga summit later this year will not be an enlargement one but it will evaluate the progress made by Albania on its path toward NATO membership. The meeting also discussed on the fight against crime, strengthening border control, corruption and other major topics. “To successfully cope with these challenges there is needed the participation of all institutional and political factors, including the opposition, and that needs dialogue and collaboration to find the common language, not tension and extreme politicization of every debate,” said Moisiu.
