TIRANA, Jan 26 – The National Albanian American Council (NAAC) in the United States congratulated President Barack Obama on his appointment of Senator Hillary Clinton as the new US Secretary of State. The NAAC statement noted that she brings a vast experience in domestic and international affairs.
Hillary Clinton has always called for the United States to engage itself in world affairs and has frequently mentioned American involvement in Kosova and Bosnia as examples of foreign engagements she favored on moral and strategic ground.
Hillary Clinton has also played a vital role in the process that lead towards Kosova’s independence. She was one of the first to congratulate the newborn State of Kosova and urged US friends and allies to promptly recognize the independence of Kosova. Additionally, she has been a strong supporter of Albanian membership into Euro-Atlantic structures and supports Albanian minorities in Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia.
“NAAC has enjoyed a close working relationship with Mrs. Clinton and her staff over the years and we look forward to furthering our cooperation” said Avni Mustafaj, NAAC Executive Director. Mrs. Clinton’s appointment was warmly received by the Albanian American community and Albanians throughout the Balkans.
The National Albanian American Council is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to advocating for Albanians and promoting peace and economic development in the Balkans by fostering democratic policy, promoting respect for human rights, and conducting educational and developmental programs.
