The news is confirmed by Economy Minister Dritan Prifti who said that culture and sports ministry had included even the “Qemal Stafa” stadium and the “Asllan Rusi” sports palace in Tirana in its privatization list.
The Qemal Stafa stadium, named after Albanian World War II martyr, is the biggest in Albania with a capacity of 17,000 fans.
Government has launched privatization procedures for 280 state-owned assets hoping to collect between 100 to 150 million euros by 2011.
Government will put up for sale every remaining state-owned property except for the hydropower plants on River Drin cascade, as well as education and health facilities in an effort to save the country’s endangered public finances and cut high public debt levels.
