TIRANA, March 18 – The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs will offer a training program on IPA/Environmental issues to be held in the Netherlands as part of the MATRA Program.
This training program is designed for policy makers and experts working in the field of IPA/Environment.
The participants may come from different types of organizations such as local, regional or national (semi) government entities operating in the field of IPA and investment-heavy directives. The participants should be responsible for environmental policy or research in this field.
The same program also offers training for European cooperation, entitled “How to Operate in Brussels.”
Countries on the Balkan, Albania included, have the opportunity to open negotiations with the EU in the future. The negotiations seek to assist the administrations of both the new member states and the pre-accession countries which face the enormous and complex tasks of dealing and interacting with Brussels.
In order to complete preparatory tasks and also represent national interests in an effective manner as a candidate or new member, government officials must learn how to operate in Brussels.
This means, among others, dealing with the approximately 1000 Standing Committees in Brussels and a variety of supranational and intergovernmental decision-making procedures that involve different legislative bodies such as the Commission, the Council and the European Parliament.
