TIRANA, July 28 -Brig. General Maksim Malaj has been promoted to become the new army chief-of-staff this past Monday.
Malaj replaces Gen. Lt. Luan Hoxha, who lost the post after the blast in March 15 in Gerdec killed 26 persons and injured 300 others at a ammunition disposal factory.
The ceremony for Malaj was held Monday at the president’s office and also at the Defense Ministry.
Malaj becomes the 26th official to head the army since its creation in 1913.
