TIRANA, Sept. 7 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced on Wednesday the establishment of a portal to increase transparency between the public administration and businesses. “It’s time we move to quickly establish the country’s official portal in which every businessmen, just like in a mirror, can follow the path of his document, monitor the way, stations and decisions which are taken on his document,” said Berisha. According to him, government still needs to facilitate business procedures despite progress with the opening of one-stop shops and 100 percent e-procurements. Albania lost one place in the latest Doing Business 2011 report published by the World Bank ranking 82nd, down from 81st last year. “Albania made it easier and less costly for companies to pay taxes by amending several laws, reducing social security contributions and introducing electronic filing and payment,” said the report.
