TIRANA, Dec 17 – The Albanian’s Competition Authority said that the country’s fuel market had serious competitive restrains.
“After two years of investigation, we found that companies act in coordination with each other and some of them have enough market share to control prices”, said the authority, inviting companies under investigation to read the final report and to present their explanations before any final decision.
The authority may fine companies up to 10 percent of their last year revenues.
Fuel in Albania is still with a very high price compared to the world market and the domestic purchase chances.
While the price of the oil in the world has fallen by 300 percent in Albania it has fallen only 20-30 percent.
The government says they cannot do anything to stop that adding that high price is also affected by the lack of big deposits in the country, that is fuel comes with an increasing cost of unloading.
