TIRANA, July 26 – The world was shaken last week when Norwegian Anders Behring Breivik killed 68 people on an island and eight more in a car bomb explosion in Oslo.
Following the horrific crime and the discovery of a manifesto written by Breivik, it has also become clear that the Norwegian had an anti-Albanian obsession.
His 1,500-page2083: A European Declaration of Independence showed he had a strange preoccupation with the Balkans. He mentioned Kosovo 143 times and Albania 208. Condemning Muslims as enemies in Europe who must be fought and expunged from Europe, Breivik specifically names Muslim Albanians and Bosniaks are described as the evil jihad-waging enemy. In addition, he claims that for decades Muslims in “Bosnian Serbia” and Albanianswaged deliberate demographic warfare, or “indirect genocide”, against the Serbs. With specific regard to Albanians, Breivik claims that their families “procreate at large scales trying to conquer territories demographically and later through bloodshed.” He later tries to highlight their alleged links to al-Qaeda.
Urging the deportation of Muslims from Europe, Breivik also endorses the physical annihilation of any Albanians and Bosnians that resist. As they have lived here for “several centuries… they will not accept being deported from Europe and will fight for their survival. A more long term and brutal military strategy must therefore be applied.”
Following this potential cleansing of Europe from Muslims, Breivik designates Albania as the official “transit zone for the Balkans”. After that, the local map is to be completely redrawn, and Kosovo will be “reunified with Serbia once again.”
In light of Breivik Serbian sympathies, it is perhaps not a surprise that he also considered the NATO and Western Europe bombardment of Serbia unacceptable.
He goes on further by saying that Albania should be divided between Greece and Montenegro and the rest be populated by a Christian Albanian population.
Breivik continues by noting that it was wrong to accept Albania as a NATO member and it should be taken out of the alliance and that it should also not be accepted into the European Union. He claims Albania has links with terrorist networks.
Breivik staged the bombing and youth camp rampage as “marketing” for his manifesto calling for a revolution that would rid Europe of Muslims.
The blond suspect in the killing of at least 76 people in Norway sees himself as a righteous crusader on a mission to save European “Christendom” from a tide of Islam. Multi-culturalism is one of the dirtiest words in Anders Behring Breivik’s political vocabulary.Since his arrest, Breivik has admitted his actions, but feels that “what he has done does not deserve punishment.”
All in Albania were shocked and have condemned the killing.Prime Minister Sali Berisha condemned the ugly terrorist acts and expressed his sympathy and solidarity with Norway’s government and the Norwegian people.
“The terror attacks in downtown Oslo that targeted government buildings and further in Utoya Island during which teens and young adults were killed at a political youth retreat are the recent acts of barbarity against freedom of the Norwegian nation and the values of our civilization,” he said.
“These odious terrorist acts show that the fight against the violence and terrorism is still a challenge and the Republic of Albania remains fully committed along with the international coalition in fighting them,” said the Foreign Ministry.
