Oil giant Shell gets new Albania contract following promising discoveries

 TIRANA, Feb. 20 – Albania concluded this week an oil exploration contract with the Royal Dutch Shell   that will see the British-Dutch multinational invest another $42.5 million over the next seven years in southern Albania, making it one of the few big Western investors with a presence in Albania. The new deal comes after lengthy two-year talks dating back to mid-2015 when Albania selected the oil giant to explore the onshore Block 4 in south-eastern Albania spanning approximately 874 square miles close to their current drilling site at Shpirag in the Berat region, southern Albania.
