TIRANA, April 12 – Albania’s Thursday parliamentary session saw major disruptions as the opposition tried to block proceedings after a speech by Democratic Party leader Lulzim Basha, who warned that there could be no normal session without first suspending Prime Minister Edi Rama, who the opposition accuses of using an inappropriate vocabulary to describe opposition voters.

The opposition last week filed for an official sanctioning against the prime minister, but was rejected by the parliamentary bureau.

Opposition MPs also sought the freeing of 11 citizens from Kukes, imprisoned over a violent protest against tolls last week.

Opposition MPs threw flour and water toward the prime minister and other ministers, which led to the expulsion of three MPs.

Parliament quickly went through the agenda passing three laws with the votes of the Socialist Party MPs as Democrats made noise and refused to leave the pulpit.
