TIRANA – The leader of the main opposition Socialist Party, Edi Ram, said this week the cabinet reshuffle showed the bad situation the government of the Democratic Party and Prime Minister Sali Berisha are finding themselves in.
Rama said that the reshuffle was not made in a transparent way, but came from a closed-door a party meeting.
The opposition leader said that the government is showing everyday that “the governing has turned into a profitable activity not in the interest of the public but to serve the courtyard of the power.”
The opposition had started its offensive on alleged corruption of the government, showing how former Economy Minister Dritan Prifti had become rich overnight with 1.8 million euros he was paid for his shares in a company that had never operated.
The opposition continued to insist and ask appropriate authorities investigate the alleged corruption of Prifti and added the prime minister should answer for how Prifti had become rich after taking the post.
Rama said that the opposition would continue to “prove with facts the transformation of governing into a criminalized process” and show how a group of “mediators” served to operate in illegal activities on behalf of the government.
“Yesterday Prifti (which means “priest” in Albanian) left the government but the devil is still in the country and is destroying the Albanian economy to enrich a group of persons in power. That government should only be moved away and we shall make the utmost to topple it,” said Rama.
