TIRANA, Feb 2 – A high-ranking Pakistani lawmaker has made a rare visit to Albania from the South Asian country in an effort to promote stronger ties.
Sen. Mushahid Hussain Sayed met with Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta where they discussed the need of promoting cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
They also decided to establish a friendship group for enhancing contacts between the respective parliamentarians.
Hussain Sayed, who is the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense and Defense Production in the Pakistani Senate, also met with other Albanian leaders including parliamentarians Arta Dade and Spartak Braho.
Both countries have excellent bilateral relations, he said, adding there was the need for greater focus on enhancing economic relations, especially trade, including through exchange of business delegations.
The Albanian leaders thanked the Pakistani lawmaker for his country’s efforts in the recognition of Kosovo in 2012 as an independent country.
In addition to his own recognition, Pakistan is also lobbying other states to recognize Kosovo, Hussain Sayed said.
