TIRANA, Nov. 14 – Parliament commissions passed Tuesday important draft laws for Albania’s integration efforts into international institutions. The commission on national security passed the convention of the Council of Europe on the steps against human trafficking. Albania had signed it in December last year in Strasbourg. Albania had been an important country of origin and transit for trafficking, but it has been excluded from that level for some years. Fighting human trafficking, among other things, remains top priority for the government and a pre-condition set by NATO and the European Union for Albania’s membership.
The same commission also passed another convention on preventing terrorism. It aims at more steps to prevent terrorist acts and to increase international cooperation in the fight against it.
