TIRANA, Oct. 18 – Wednesday hundreds of pensioners held a peaceful protest in front of the government building complaining their monthly pension is below the living standards. They said the government is lying about raising their pensions, also they mentioned the compensation for the increase in electricity rates; lifting reimbursed medicine and a tariff on the medical bills. They claimed pensioners are poorer in 2006 compared to 2005 saying a five percent raise did not cope with the other price hikes. Pensions range from 8,200 to 16,800 leks per month.
