KORCA, July 6 – Police in Korca and Gjirokastra cooperated in an operation to arrest a 21-year old named Belul Toto from Lazarat and also find 33 kilograms of cannabis sativa destined to be sent to neighboring Greece.
The man was arrested while he was transporting the drugs in a car going to Kolonja.
In another operation police again in Korca arrested three young men with 120 grams of heroin and also other items used to manage the drug. They also found some weapons at the apartment of one of them.
In capital Tirana police arrested Ardian Qerimi, 27, for cultivating cannabis sativa at his house, including some 46 grams of the drug he had prepared to distribute.
In Italy police said they dismantled a drug and arms trafficking ring in a two-year operation during which 40 suspects from Italy, Albania, Slovenia and Kosova were arrested.
Police believe the ring smuggled drugs and arms from Afghanistan and Turkey into Italy through Kosova and Slovenia.
