TIRANA, Jan. 17 – Police reported Wednesday that they had arrested two persons – Malo Qoku, 57, and Edlira Spahija, 34, for harming people with false offers of employment in Australia. The Piramida operation was continuing investigation for alleged involvement of other persons. Qoku had been sentenced before for deceit while Spahija worked as lawyer at the Tirana Customs department. They had promised some 50 persons in Tirana and other cities to secure working visas for Australia. The victims had each paid 1,640 Euro. The suspects claimed to have links to a phantasm company Prova in Germany which had a branch in Macedonia as well. They had collected up to 88,000 euros. Police called on the affected persons to go to the police stations and declare their case.
On Saturday police also arrested Kujtim Tola, 35, for falsely offering another person a Schenghen visa for 1,700 euros.
