Police arrest suspected smugglers

TIRANA, June 21 – Police arrested Bujar and Taulant Xhambazi, 33 and 23 years old respectively, while they were trying to smuggle goods with a Korca vehicle.
Following a four-month investigation police had allegedly discovered the two suspects smuggled from neighboring Greece, passing through Kapshtica border crossing point, goods like jeans, avoiding customs checking points.
They had hidden such goods in the vehicle when caught from police.
Both had a shop where they sold the goods. Other unjustified goods were found there.
Police sequestered thousands of other clothes they could not justify with customs bills, in an amount of 30,000 euros.
In another operation police arrested two persons _ Arben Filloli, 39, and Gjergji Qirici, 36, who were found also with smuggled goods and could not prove where they were imported from.
Their arrest also followed a two-month investigation. They resulted to illegally bring to the country many products for which they did not pay the custom tariffs.
