TIRANA, May 12 – Police arrested two people in Tirana when they were found transporting 120 cannabis plants in a car pulled over during a routine traffic stop.

A search of the men’s home also found an assault rifle and ammunition.

In southeastern Devoll district, police arrested another man after they found large quantities of marijuana plants in his house in the village of Hoçisht.

Finding the authors of cannabis cultivation has turned into a problem for police as people usually plant the narcotics in remote areas that are not private property.

Police said that fighting drug traffic remains a top priority. Recently police have destroyed thousands of cannabis plants and arrested tens of people on related charges.
