Police chief says fighting crime remains top priority

TIRANA, Dec. 30 – In the annual statement and greeting for the New Year festivities, police chief Bajram Ibraj reminded his staff that their job was the most important of the local authorities and also for their success in securing the public security and fight against crime. Special attention has been paid to the policy in community idea, which aims at getting more collaboration from the community so that security is better preserved. For 2007 Ibraj reminded policemen that were the year of local elections during which they keep an impartial stand. The police chief also pledged there would be higher salaries for the staff this year. Fighting organized crimes remained a top priority.
