TIRANA, March 8 – Police reported Thursday that they had arrested two persons and found about 27 kilograms of heroin at a market value of 300,000 Euro and a laboratory that was used to process the drugs in capital Tirana. Police claimed they cracked down on a major criminal network of drug distribution in the country. Drugs came in Albania as transit from Macedonia and toward Italy. Police said that after more than a month long work they managed to find the greatest amount of drugs ever caught at a house where they also found a lab. Police arrested Kujtim Karamuca, 40, and Adhurim Nela, 39. They also sequestered the lab, two silenced pistols, two cars and other equipment used by the suspects.
That was the biggest ever amount of heroin found in the country. Police has set fighting drug trafficking as a main priority along the efforts to fight criminal organizations operating in the country.
