TIRANA, May 20 – Tirana police has seized about 100 kilograms of explosives and other associate prohibited military items and arrested four people authorities believe are involved in the illegal weapon traffic.
Police considered the four arrested people, residents in Tirana and northern Kruja town, as a “structural criminal grouping.”
They were arrested at the moment they were selling C4 plastic explosives. At their apartments, police found 96 kilograms of C4, 37 kilograms of detonating cable, and thousands of detonators and other items, authorities said.
Investigation is still ongoing.
Fighting such an illegal traffic turned into an urgent issue earlier this year following a series of explosions around the country in targeted violence, some of it deadly.
