TIRANA, May 15 – Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri and national Police Chief Haki Cako showcases last week Albania’s intent to use police drones to help in the capture fugitives and monitoring illegal activities.
Unmanned aerial vehicles are being increasingly used for similar purposes worldwide.
Using drones aims to boost police operation efficiency and reduce risks of police officers, according to authorities.
Top officials made a demonstration of drone operation to detect over speeding on the highways, saying it could fly for two hours.
The symbol for drone use in Albania has been the the use of a rudimentary UAV to fly a nationalist banner over the Serbia vs. Albania Euro 2016 football qualifier in Belgrade, a move that sparked a physical clash that led to the games abandonment.
