TIRANA, Aug. 4 – Albanian President Alfred Moisiu decreed Friday three new members of the Central Election Commission among a political heated dispute between the country’s two main political groupings. Arben Ristani, Flamur ȡto and Fatmir Kumbaro will complete the 7-member CEC team. Arben Ristani was elected from the Democratic Party at the parliament, something that caused serious troubles, almost to the point of physical violence, from the leftist Socialist Movement for Integration of Ilir Meta that claimed they deserved that post. Flamur Cato elected previously from the High Council of Justice had also sparked anger from the Democrats. The opposition now currently says that the new session of the parliament in September should resume before the election of Ristani, something that is completely opposed by the Democrats. After wishing them success in their work of “organizing, holding, and verifying elections”, Moisiu told the CEC members that “It is in your moral, constitutional and legal consciousness Što stay loyal to your duty. It is important that through your stand and cooperation you bring out a position that brings cooperation and not havoc at the political forces.”
