TIRANA, June 24 – The Freedom House report on democracy in Albania shows that it is the only country in the Balkan region that has marked progress regarding its democracy compared to a year ago.

Freedom House said that thanks to several reforms and preliminary steps in the fight against corruption undertaken by the government, Albania was the only country in the Balkans to have marked progress in the levels of democracy.

However, it still remains low ranked among the countries of the region, leaving only Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo behind.

The report added the judicial system has not given any proof to start criminal proceedings against the high officials.
