TIRANA, May 25 – Attorney General Ina Rama said Tuesday that fighting organized crime remained a top priority for her office.
Speaking in front of the parliament’s legal commission, Rama said that during 2010 her institution would aim at closer inter-institutional cooperation with the Albania’s courts, police and Justice Ministry.
Fighting corruption remains a top priority, she added.
“Fighting organized crime, terrorism, illegal trafficking and money laundering will continue to be a priority of our work,” she said.
That would be achieved through a closer cooperation with domestic and international law-enforcement agencies and also the better application of many laws in the books, she said.
Rama also said they were working to increase their capacities and infrastructure needed in such a fight.
She also asked the parliament and the government to increase funding, amend some laws on limiting the immunity and also apply efforts to unify practices with other institutions.
