TIRANA, Jan. 10 – Albanian prosecutors are cooperating with their Italian counterparts in investigating the causes of the fire at the Italian ferry rented from a Greek company where 11 people died and many are still unaccounted for at the end of December.
Prosecutor General Adriatik Llalla met with the Bari prosecutor last week and offered full support to the investigation.
The Norman Atlantic ferry caught fire near the Albanian waters and then entered them while trying to cope with harsh seas when the Italian and Greek emergency personnel evacuated the ferry passengers.
Albanian authorities handed over to the Italian counterparts a lifeboat that came onto the Albanian shore and is believed to belong to the ferry.
