SHKODRA, Jan. 13 – The prosecutor’s office in northern Shkodra has started the investigation on the causes of the flooding.
As a start they have asked the power corporation KESH to provide them with all the documentation on the water levels at the three hydro power stations on the Drini River which produce the bulk of the country’s energy and also have been a cause of the flooding.
That has been the news given by the local media and there has been no reaction from the prosecutor’s office yet.
The opposition has insisted in recent days that keeping water reserves at the power plants last November and December has been the main cause of the flooding as that would be used to produce energy and sell it at this moment, but for personal profits.
The government has denied that, insisting the flooding was a natural cause, that is, a force majeure.
